2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative. In 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative in Kazakhstan and Indonesia, and received positive responses; as of July this year, more than 100 countries and international organizations have signed cooperation documents with China for the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.
　　 In the past five years, the “Belt and Road” has followed the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, creating a path of prosperity and development.
　　 The construction of "One Belt One Road" promotes policy communication. As of September this year, China has signed 149 intergovernmental cooperation documents with 105 countries and 29 international organizations along the “Belt and Road”.
　　 The "Belt and Road" construction promotes facility connectivity. As of May 2017, China has signed more than 130 bilateral and regional transport agreements involving railways, highways, water transport, civil aviation, and postal services with countries along the “Belt and Road”. As a "golden card" for the "Belt and Road" facility connectivity, the China-Europe Express Train has opened more than 10,000 trains by the end of August this year.
　　 The construction of "One Belt One Road" accelerates the smooth flow of trade. From 2013 to 2017, the total import and export volume between China and countries along the “Belt and Road” reached 33.2 trillion yuan, an average annual growth rate of 4%. As of June this year, China has become the largest trading partner of 25 countries along the “Belt and Road”. In terms of investment, China’s direct investment in countries along the “Belt and Road” reached US$13.4 billion in 2013. Since then, it has basically shown a rising trend, reaching US$9.58 billion from January to August this year.
　　 The construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative” facilitates financial integration. At present, China has established RMB clearing arrangements in 7 countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”, and the RMB cross-border payment system covers 41 countries and regions along the route. As of the end of 2017, 55 banks from 21 countries related to the “Belt and Road” initiative have established institutions in China. As of August this year, the number of members of the AIIB has increased from 57 at the beginning of its establishment to 87, and the approved project investment has exceeded US$5.3 billion.
　　 The construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative” builds people-to-people bonds. Up to now, more than 20 countries along the "Belt and Road" have implemented visa-free and visa-on-arrival for China, and nearly 10 countries have introduced preferential policies such as conditional visa-free and electronic visa, which greatly facilitate the public Of mutual exchanges. China has hosted 81 overseas educational institutions and projects in countries along the route; in the first half of this year, the "Silk Road" scholarship funded more than 270 million yuan; 35 cultural centers were built along the route.

　　 A string of data shows the fruitful results of the “Belt and Road” construction in the past five years, and reflects the tremendous development opportunities brought to the countries along the route. In November 2016, the United Nations General Assembly included the "Belt and Road" initiative in its resolution for the first time; on October 24, 2017, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will formally write the "Belt and Road" construction into the party constitution.
At the 5th anniversary symposium held not long ago to promote the construction of the “Belt and Road”, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that it is necessary to advance the implementation step by step, grasp the results bit by bit, and promote the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.
